SUMMIT OFFERS FREE STROKE SCREENING
May 14, 2010 Are you at risk for a stroke? As a part of National Stroke Awareness Month, Summit Medical Center will be providing a stroke screening on Tuesday, May 25 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the hospital classrooms on the ground floor.
A stroke is a brain attack, cutting off vital blood flow and oxygen to the brain. In the United States, stroke is the third leading cause of death, killing about 137,000 people each year, and a leading cause of serious, long-term adult disability. It is important to know your risk factors and talk to your physician about ways to prevent a stroke.
The screening will include a questionnaire, several checks including blood pressure and blood glucose, followed by a personal consultation with a neurologist. Dr. Christine Dong, neurologist, will consult with each participant based on their screening results. To make an appointment for the stroke screening and to receive pre-screening instructions please call TriStar MedLine at 615-342-1919.
